Mandore Garden
Situated 9km north of the centre of Jodhpur, Mandore was the capital of Marwar prior to the founding of Jodhpur. Its gardens, complete with rock terraces and home to playful grey langurs, contain a variety of dark-red cenotaphs of Jodhpur’s rulers.
In the Mandore cultivate, there are the dewals or cenotaphs of Jodhpur’s previous rulers. Therefore, these gardens somehow form the basis of Jodhpur tourism. Rather than the standard chhatri-moulded cenotaphs average of Rajasthan, the cenotaphs of the acclaimed Mandore garden of Jodhpur, Rajasthan are worked along the lines of a Hindu sanctuary. They are four stories high, with fine sections and a rich tower, all in red sandstone. The most noteworthy dewal is the dewal of Maharaja Ajit Singh. These cenotaphs are set in lovely arranged greenhouses. The cenotaphs of the Maharani are determined to a rough outcrop over the slope.Close to the cenotaphs is the lobby of legends. The corridor is devoted to different gods and Rajput society legends. The statues of the gods and legends we are cut out of shake and painted in splendid hues. Additionally in this garden of Jodhpur, is “The Shrine of the Three Hundred Million Gods”, loaded with splendidly hued pictures of the different Hindu Gods. As you move up the slope, you go to the demolished city of Mandore, with its old castle.
